Questions
Which banks work?
Any bank whose statement is a text PDF (the kind you download from online banking) in the US, UK, Canada, Australia or New Zealand. If a layout doesn't convert cleanly, send it to us; we add support and it won't count against your allowance.
What does "checked against the printed balance" mean?
Most statements print a running balance. We start from the opening balance, add each transaction, and confirm we land on the balance the bank printed. When every row agrees, nothing was missed, duplicated or misread. Rows that don't agree are flagged so you know exactly where to look.
What about statements without a running balance?
We check the total against the opening and closing balances instead, and tell you which kind of check was done.
Can I convert scanned or photographed statements?
Not yet. Scanned statement support is coming soon. Meanwhile, send us the file and we'll convert it for you.
I already have a CSV, QBO or OFX file. Can I convert that?
Yes. The file converters turn CSV, Excel, QBO, QFX, OFX, QIF and IIF files into any of the others, in your browser, so nothing is uploaded. Free for 10 files a day.
Do I need an account?
Not to convert. Drop the statement and see every row checked without signing up. To download the file you sign in with your email or Google, which is how the free statement a day stays fair. No password, ever.
Is my data safe?
Files are encrypted, deleted 60 minutes after upload, never shared and never used to train models. We never ask for your bank login.
Will the QBO file import into QuickBooks Online?
Yes. In QuickBooks Online go to Bank transactions, open the Link account dropdown, select Upload from file and choose the .qbo file. In QuickBooks Desktop use File, then Utilities, then Import, then Web Connect Files.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes, from your account page in two clicks. Monthly plans are billed month to month, with no 12-month commitment hidden behind a monthly price. You keep access until the end of the period you paid for.
What happens if a conversion fails?
It's refunded to your allowance automatically. If you'd still like the file, send the statement to help@unclip.online and a person will convert it.
QuickBooks Desktop shows error OL-222. What now?
OL-222 means QuickBooks Desktop couldn't read the file, most often because of a special character such as an ampersand. Our files escape these characters. If you still see an error, write to us and we'll sort it out with you.
