Why QBO to PDF
A Web Connect file is unreadable outside QuickBooks, yet it's often the only download a bank provides for a closed account or an old period. When a client, lender or auditor asks for the transactions in a form they can read, a PDF of the list is what they want. Unclip lays out the transactions in a table with the period and totals at the top.
What the PDF contains
- A header with the file name, statement period, number of transactions and totals in and out.
- One row per transaction: date, description, amount. The running balance is shown when the source file carries one.
- Letter-size pages with repeated column headings and page numbers.
- For the editable version, download Excel or CSV from the same screen.
How the conversion works
1. Read
Every STMTTRN block is read: date posted, amount, payee, memo, check number and the bank's transaction ID. OFX 1 (SGML) and OFX 2 (XML) both work, as do credit card files.
2. Check
Rows without a readable date and amount are counted and reported, never silently dropped. Totals in and out and the period are shown so you can compare them with the source before importing.
3. Write
A Letter-size PDF with the period and totals at the top, repeated column headings and page numbers.
Starting from a PDF statement? The statement converter reads it and checks every row against the printed balance.

Questions
Is this an official bank statement?
No. It's a faithful list of the transactions in the file, labelled as converted by Unclip. For an official statement, download the PDF from your bank.
Can I convert a PDF statement the other way, into QBO?
Yes. The statement converter on the home page reads PDF statements and checks every row against the printed balances before writing QBO, OFX, Excel or CSV.
Does it include memos?
Yes, after the payee name, separated by a dash, when the file has them.
